Vishver Rangayathanaya is a valued dance academy where students learn the accurate techniques of Sri Lankan traditional and contemporary dance, under my guidance. They are passionate in learning the true culture and true facts of their heritage. I am proud to say that they embrace this quality close to their hearts.
Dance is one of the greatest forms of Art. As a young child, I had the amazing opportunity to make dancing a part of my life. I have always been appreciative of this opportunity. Today I’ve being fortunate enough to share this passion with so many talented young students. It gives me confidence that the art will continue to blossom for many more years.

Every Monday from my tiny ages, I would be running out of school with full of excitement because in a few hours I would be in my dancing class. The place where I dance to the tunes of my culture among my loving friends and inspiring, passionate teacher. My journey at Vishver Rangayathanaya has been amazing, from learning the small foot steps to learning Vannams. I love this school and never in my dreams would I won’t to stop attending Vishver Rangayathanaya.

Vishver Rangayathanaya is a Sri Lankan dance school like you’ve never dreamed of. Being a part of this uplifting academy for 9 years has made a huge impact in my life. Starting at Vishver Rangayathanaya as a little girl, I have learnt so much about dancing as well as myself in all these years. If it wasn’t for dancing, I honestly wouldn’t be who I am now. Our dance school brings the Sri Lankan traditions and cultures to a whole a new level, by following many different traditions of the country and showcasing it in such a unique way. It was because of dancing, that I got introduced to the extravagant culture ofSri Lankaand got me interested on how inspiring my parent’s mother country actually is. Going to dance classes every week, isn’t something that I’m being forced to but is something that I always look forward to. There is never a day of dancing, where I step out of that door not having learnt anything new. And it’s not only dancing that matters to us in our dance school, it’s also the friendships and fun we make out of everything. We are just as much like a family, we are always there for one another, encouraging and supporting each other in every way. Dance has built a lot of self confidence in me throughout these years. Performing in front of so many people needs the courage and confidence and dancing has absolutely made it work out for me. The opportunities that are given to us, the knowledge of new cultures, the bonds and friendships made are just a few of what is gained at our school. However, all our dreams couldn’t have been pursued if it wasn’t for the mother of our dancing family, Rashika Aunty. Rashika Aunty has inspired us all the way and there hasn’t been a time where she has ever given up on us. She is like a mother to us all, reminding us what’s right and wrong, giving us such good advice but most of all how she believes in every one of us. She has taught us so much about dance and especially that dance is not only shown by movement, but how there are many meanings and backgrounds behind of each step. It is also because of her love and dedication to our dance school; we have built to such a strong community and achieved things that we have never imagined we could have done before. Dancing has been such a special part of me, and it wouldn’t have been such an inspiration without our dancing school and our beloved Rashika Aunty. These years have been such an incredible journey, and I can’t see myself ever leaving this dream.

I have been dancing with Aunty Rashika for many years now. Although I started at a very young age, I continue to learn different techniques but also aboutSri Lanka, its traditions and culture. Coming to dancing classes does not only expand my knowledge, but also gives me a chance to meet many new people. Members of our dancing school are very close with one another, and we like to call ourselves not only a dancing school, but also a family. What I enjoy most about our dancing school is that we can be who are and everyone is so bright minded. The environment is so high-spirited and full of laughs.
I have gained many unforgettable experiences throughout my years dancing here. I have participated in many events that have all been so much fun, being able to experience not only dancing during my class, but to participate in our concerts which take place is an amazing feeling. When looking back at videos of the performances, it is incredible to see how people have grown as dancers.
Aunty Rashika is the best dancing teacher I could ask for. She is so kind, and cares about each one of us like her own children. She is easily approachable and has all the qualities a dancing teacher would need to have. She is always willing to help us out, and ensuring that we are all gaining the best experiences at our times at dancing. I love her with all my heart!

Through the dedication and hard work of Rashika Aunty, more than 150 dancing students have been given the opportunity to understand the culture and values of the Sri Lankan community amongst us today. Through dance, We are able to express not only our emotions but show our appreciation for our motherland country. Sri Lankan Dancing requires expression and emotion, and thought the commitment of both the students and devotedness of our teacher, we have been blessed with the ability to portray this. With much passion, we dance, executing every step and every motion. As our environment changes, we change. However, kandyan dancing allows every student to cherish their culture and the beauty of dance. I gain much confidence and resoluteness when dancing and I hope to continue this artistic form of dance in future years.
